NIU is proud to announce the creation of an online Early Childhood Education cohort beginning Fall 2024! This program is open to all transfer students from Illinois community colleges who have completed the majority of pre-clinical requirements, and it is designed to be completed in 2.5 years. All classes will be online, while clinicals and student teaching will be completed in school districts within the northern Illinois region. Students who successfully complete this program will obtain licensure to teach preschool through second grade in the state of Illinois, and will also gain approval to teach special education at the preschool level and an ESL/bilingual approval.
